Leur syst\u00e8me actuel consistait en deux anneaux : l&rsquo;un sous la t\u00eate, l&rsquo;autre autour de l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur de la t\u00eate. Chacun de ces anneaux de bouclier utilisait des couvertures de laine de plomb de 1&prime; x 6&prime; (305 mm x 1829 mm) de 60 lb (27,2 kg). Ces syst\u00e8mes de blindage \u00e9taient lourds \u00e0 mettre en place, exigeaient beaucoup de temps et de moyens, et occupaient beaucoup d&rsquo;espace, en particulier l&rsquo;anneau de blindage ext\u00e9rieur.<\/p>\n<p>En \u00e9troite collaboration avec Eric Fulghum, le superviseur de la RP, les couvertures de laine de plomb de 305 mm x 1829 mm (1&prime; x 6&prime;) de 27,2 kg (60 lb) ont \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9es par des couvertures de bismuth T-Flex de 305 mm x 914 mm (1&prime; x 3&prime;), et un syst\u00e8me d&rsquo;\u00e9tag\u00e8res plus \u00e9l\u00e9gant et plus facile \u00e0 installer a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 autour de la bride de la t\u00eate du r\u00e9acteur.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28411\" src=\"https:\/\/www.npo.eu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Vogtle-Before-Pics.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"3300\" height=\"2475\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.npo.eu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Vogtle-Before-Pics.png 3300w, https:\/\/www.npo.eu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Vogtle-Before-Pics-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.npo.eu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Vogtle-Before-Pics-1024x768.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.npo.eu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Vogtle-Before-Pics-768x576.png 768w, https:\/\/www.npo.eu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Vogtle-Before-Pics-1536x1152.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.npo.eu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Vogtle-Before-Pics-2048x1536.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 3300px) 100vw, 3300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Avantages :<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;utilisation de couvertures plus l\u00e9g\u00e8res a permis de r\u00e9duire le temps d&rsquo;installation des anneaux int\u00e9rieurs de 5 ou 6 heures \u00e0 moins d&rsquo;une heure. Cela s&rsquo;explique en partie par le fait que les couvertures de 60 livres (27,2 kg) devaient \u00eatre soulev\u00e9es par deux personnes, alors que les nouvelles couvertures de 45 livres (20,4 kg) peuvent \u00eatre manipul\u00e9es en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 par un seul installateur. L&rsquo;ancien syst\u00e8me utilisait \u00e9galement des couvertures de laine de plomb de 1&prime; x 6&prime; (305 mm x 1829 mm) qui \u00e9taient attach\u00e9es \u00e0 un syst\u00e8me d&rsquo;\u00e9chafaudage. Ce syst\u00e8me d&rsquo;\u00e9chafaudage a ensuite d\u00fb \u00eatre entour\u00e9 d&rsquo;une cl\u00f4ture pour limiter l&rsquo;acc\u00e8s du personnel.<\/p>\n<p>Entre le blindage interne et le blindage externe, l&rsquo;installation prendrait 12 \u00e0 13 heures et co\u00fbterait \u00e0 Vogtle entre 150 et 200 mRem (1500 \u00e0 2000 \u03bcSv).<\/p>\n<p>Le nouveau syst\u00e8me de blindage externe utilise des supports \u00e9l\u00e9gants qui \u00e9pousent le diam\u00e8tre ext\u00e9rieur de la bride du r\u00e9acteur. Les supports ont \u00e9t\u00e9 fix\u00e9s \u00e0 la bride en s&rsquo;ins\u00e9rant dans les trous des goujons et chacun d&rsquo;entre eux comprenait deux rang\u00e9es de crochets pour des couvertures T-Flex Bismuth de 1&prime; x 3&prime; (305 mm x 914 mm). Cette installation \u00e9tait beaucoup moins g\u00eanante que la pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. Cela a permis deux choses. Tout d&rsquo;abord, la cl\u00f4ture entourant le blindage a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9limin\u00e9e, ce qui a permis de lib\u00e9rer de l&rsquo;espace au sol et de r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement le temps d&rsquo;installation.
